On July 10, 2019, the Federal Housing Administration (“FHA”) published its quarterly update of the Single Family Housing Policy Handbook (“SF Handbook”).  The FHA advised in FHA Info #19-34 that “revisions include updated policy guidance, clarifications, corrections, and additions to SF Handbook Section I (Doing Business with FHA), Section II (Origination through Post-Closing/Endorsement), and Section V (Quality Control, Oversight and Compliance).”

Remote Online Notarization (RON) -The process of signing documents using audio-visual communications while being in different physical locations.  This differs from an in person electronic notarization (IPEN) that also uses digital signatures but still requires the signer and notary to be in each other’s physical presence.

In a little more than a year, there have been several new requirements or changes to guidelines in the VA Home Loan program.  These have included both new restrictions on the making of VA home loans and making loans more available to veterans.
